About the company:
The Yalkal Museum owes its appearance to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. In the summer of 1917, while hiding from the Provisional Government, Lenin replaced 15 safe houses. The house in the village of Yalkala became the eighth in a row.
In 1940, after the accession of the northern part of the Karelian Isthmus to the USSR, it was decided to create a memorial museum in the village of Yalkala. But soon the Great Patriotic War began. It was not until October 1946 that it reopened. The exposition was devoted to the activities of Lenin during the last underground and his life in Yalkal. In 1949, the village was renamed the village of Ilyichev.
In 1993, the Lenin Museum in Ilyichev was repurposed into the historical and ethnographic museum-reserve "Yalkal". Now the exposition tells about the Soviet-Finnish (Winter) war. Today there are excursion programs that acquaint visitors with life, occupations, crafts, traditional for the local population.
