About the company:
The State Literary Museum "XX Century" has been opened since 1992 in the last apartment of Mikhail Zoshchenko - in the famous Writers' House on the Griboyedov Channel, 9. In this house lived V. Kaverin, B. Zhitkov, B. Kornilov, N. Zabolotsky, N. Oleynikov, E. Schwartz; guests D. Kharms, A. Vvedensky, A. Akhmatov, I. Brodsky and many other figures of literature and art.
In 1934, Zoshchenko, as the most popular Soviet satirist, received a four-room apartment in the Writers’ House. During the years of opal, as a result of the exchange, he found himself in a small two-room apartment No. 119, which now houses a museum consisting of two halls - a writer's office and a literary exposition. Everything in the office is authentic, the setting in which the writer lived from 1955 to 1958 is recreated with detailed accuracy. The literary exposition of the museum is devoted to both the creative biography of Zoshchenko and the fate of other Leningrad writers, the life of the intelligentsia in the difficult era of the 1930s-1950s.
The museum actively works in a creative format: participates in city festivals and actions, presents exhibitions and lecture projects at various venues of the city, invites visitors to meetings with modern writers and film screenings according to the scripts of the residents of the House on the Griboyedov channel, 9. Every year the funds of GLM "XX century" are replenished with new income from the families of the descendants of writers. One of the priorities of the museum in recent years is working with children, developed museum classes on the literature of the twentieth century. The museum invites you to walk around the city center.
