About the company:
The Samoilov Memorial Museum-Apartment was opened in St. Petersburg on January 28, 1994. This museum is dedicated to the collective image of a professional artist, for whom private life is inseparable from stage life.
For 18 years (1869-1887) in the second floor of the house N8 on Stremyannaya Street lived the famous actor of the Imperial Alexandrinsky Theatre Vasily Vasilyevich Samoilov (1803-1948) - the most talented representative of the Samoilov dynasty of actors. By the time of the creation of the museum, the former apartment of the Samoilovs, which became an old communal apartment, was part of the five-star hotel "Nevsky Palace". As a result of painstaking restoration and construction work, careful scientific work on the creation of the exposition, a museum with a unique exquisite appearance and an interesting exposition appeared. Two halls are completely devoted to the history of the Samoilov family of actors. Here are collected portraits of representatives of three generations of the dynasty, personal belongings, furnishings, paintings, masterfully executed by V.V. Samoilov. The large portrait hall tells about the artistic environment of the Samoilovs, the history of the imperial theaters of St. Petersburg of the XIX - early XX centuries. In addition to portraits, there are various items of theatrical life of the last century, personal belongings of the brilliant actors of Alexandrinka. The small concert hall revives the musical traditions of the Samoilov house, where musical evenings were constantly held. Here were A. Dargomyzhsky, A. Rubinstein, L. Auer. Now concerts of chamber classical music, theater evenings are held in the hall.
