Memorial Museum-Apartment of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov

191011, St. Petersburg, Zagorodny Prospect, 28

About the company:

The Rimsky-Korsakov Memorial Museum-Apartment is currently the only composer's museum in St. Petersburg. The museum is located in the courtyard wing of 28 Zarodny Prospekt, where Rimsky-Korsakov spent the last 15 years of his life from 1893 to 1908. 11 of the composer’s 15 operas were created here, among them: “Sadko”, “The Tale of Tsar Saltan”, “The Royal Bride”, “Kashchey the Immortal”, “Golden Cockerel”.

After the death of the composer and his wife for 50 years, the apartment was communal, but all authentic objects and furniture were carefully preserved by the descendants of the composer. On December 27, 1971, a memorial museum was opened in an apartment on Zagorodny on their initiative, which by the authenticity of the interiors is on a par with the largest composer museums of Russia - the House-Museum of P.I. Tchaikovsky in Klina and the Museum-Apartment of A.N. Scriabin in Moscow.

The memorial part of the museum consists of 4 rooms - a working study, living room, dining room and front. The rest of the apartment has been reconstructed, and there is an exhibition hall, which presents numerous documents about the life and work of the composer, and a concert hall for 50 seats.
