About the company:
The Museum of History of St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin) was established for the 100th anniversary of its foundation and officially began its work on June 5, 1986. Initially, it had the status of a public organization. On February 6, 1989, by order of the rector of LETI Professor O. V. Alekseev, the Museum of History became an independent structural unit of the university. The management was entrusted to R. M. Gimmelfarb, former editor of the newspaper "Electric". On January 1, 1993, the staffing of the ETU History Museum was approved. The director is appointed by L.N. Nikolaeva, who previously held the position of custodian of the museum funds. Today, the museum occupies an area of 135 square meters, where 120 square meters are allocated for the exhibition hall and 15 square meters for office space. The exhibition hall features more than 1,200 exhibits, of which more than 300 are authentic. The exposition is made on topics where in chronological order there are documents on the history from the moment of the university’s emergence to the present day. One of the most interesting exhibits is the painting by O. B. Kotik “Popov demonstrates his invention to scientists and students”, written in 1987 specifically for the museum. On October 30, 1897, A. S. Popov gave a lecture in our university on telegraphing without wires.
