Museum of Press
191186, St. Petersburg, Moika River Embankment, 32/2
About the company:
The history of the building No. 32 on the embankment of the Moika River is closely connected with the development of printing and publishing in Russia in the early twentieth century. Here alternately were the editorial offices of the newspapers Rus and Rural Herald, and from March to July 1917 - the editorial office of the newspaper Pravda.
In 1984, the memorial museum “Lenin and the newspaper Pravda” was opened here.
In 1991, the museum was transformed into the Museum of Printing, where the exposition “Publishing and printing house of the early twentieth century” was located. Recreated historical interiors are characteristic office publishing premises of the early twentieth century. Furniture, stationery, samples of printed products from the funds of the Museum of History of St. Petersburg are demonstrated here. In the vast premises of the printing house, which is a unique preserved example of industrial architecture of the early twentieth century, a collection of ancient printing equipment is exhibited: a hand-held flat printing machine, presses, cutting machine, dialing cash registers with reals and a number of printing accessories.
