About the company:

Since June 29, 1957, in the old building with a Kalanch on Bolshoi Avenue of Vasilievsky Island, the permanent Fire and Technical Exhibition named after B.I. Konchayev is located, which introduces the history of the fire protection of the city, the heroic past and the harsh everyday life of the “fighters of the fire front”.

Colorful models of a horse-drawn fire truck, a fire station, a mechanical staircase give a figurative idea of the activities of the St. Petersburg fire brigade, founded in 1803 by the Decree of Alexander I. The Kalanche service at the exhibition is dedicated to a separate exposition, the central exhibit of which is a post office with a dashingly twisted mustache, made in life size, dressed in a winter toeloope and a copper helmet. In the fire major hall, the atmosphere of the office of the head of the fire protection of the city of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries was recreated. Part of the exposition of the historical hall is dedicated to the feat of firefighters during the Great Patriotic War. Incendiary bombs and fragments of fascist shells, photographs and paintings, food cards and “bourgeois” – all this allows you to feel the horror of military hardship and appreciate the heroism of the people who defended the besieged city. For the completeness of the picture, part of the room with the entourage of the besieged city was reconstructed in the hall, where the life of Leningrad residents was recreated with the help of interior items. In the hall of ancient firefighting equipment you can see authentic domestic cars of the late 20s - early 30s of the last century, and in the extant building of stables of the Vasilievskaya part, the hall "Firefighting equipment. XX century" is opened - to get acquainted with the collection of firefighting vehicles of the main and special purpose of the late 1930s - 1970s. The exhibition introduces visitors to the main causes of fires in residential buildings, enterprises and institutions, measures to prevent them, as well as effective means and methods of fire extinguishing.
