About the company:
The residence of the Yusupovs on Moika belongs to the type of city estate. The palace was built presumably in the 1770s by the French architect J.-B. Wallen-Delamot and was acquired in 1830 by the Yusupovs, one of the richest families of Russia. The colossal income of the family partly went to the formation of the collection, partly to the decoration of their main residence - the palace on the Moika, which, being itself a unique work of art, gradually accumulated equally unique creations. Unlimited financial opportunities allowed to respond to fashion trends, to invite famous architects for interior decoration. By decree on February 22, 1919, signed by G. Zinoviev and A. Lunacharsky, the palace of Prince Yusupov, located on the embankment of the Moika River, 92/94, which is an art and historical monument and contains collections of paintings and objects of artistic significance, is declared national property and goes under the jurisdiction of the Commissariat of Education for the Department for Museums and Protection of Art and Antiquities.
