St. Petersburg Museum V.V. Nabokov
190000, St. Petersburg, B. Morskaya str., 47
About the company:
The museum is located in a 3-storey mansion of early modern style, owned by Nabokov since 1898. The house has beautiful interiors in the style of Rococo, Lud. XV, the French Renaissance on the first two floors. The most interesting are the dining room (1 et.) and the boudoir of Elena Ivanovna Nabokova, the writer’s mother (2 et.), lined with carved wooden panels made of nuts and mahogany. The museum occupies the first floor of the house, which contained the lobby, telephone, dining room, green living room, library, committee and kitchen. During 2000, repair and restoration work was carried out here, as a result of which some interior details were cleared and restored. Now within the walls of the museum there is a sightseeing tour in Russian and English, telling about the history of the house and the Nabokov family, as well as about the numerous images of Nabokov’s childhood that permeate all his Russian-speaking work. The museum regularly hosts cultural programs (seminars, readings, round tables, solo performances, literary and musical festivals, presentations of book publications), many of which are designed for a young audience. The museum is currently working on a new permanent exhibition to showcase the most valuable authentic pieces of our collection.
