About the company:
The Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Communications Troops was founded in 1703 by order of Peter I as Zeichhaus - a place of storage of "memorable and curious" artillery pieces. According to a special decree, the most interesting examples of artillery pieces, and later other types of weapons, uniforms, banners from all over the Russian Empire were supplied to Zeichhauz. Later, the collection changed its name and location several times. The truly museum life of the collection began in 1868, when part of the building of the arsenal of the Peter and Paul Fortress - Kronverka in the lower and mezzanine floors of the eastern wing was set aside to house military-historical collections. The museum received its modern name in 1965 after the merger of the Artillery Historical Museum with the museums of the engineering troops and communications troops. The museum contains the richest collections of weapons in Russia and 54 countries of the world, including experimental samples and personal weapons of famous people, from the 14th century to the present day, uniforms, awards, samples of sculpture and battle painting, models of fortresses, documents. The greatest interest among visitors is caused by modern missile systems, Lenin's armored car, personal weapons of Napoleon Bonaparte, unique experimental guns of Nartov, Shuvalov, etc. |
