Trinity Bridge. History of appearance

The construction of the Trinity Bridge is associated with an interesting history.

It began with the fact that in 1982 a competition of projects was announced. As a result, 16 were selected and two participated outside the competition.

The author of one of the most famous bridges of St. Petersburg was almost A.G. Eiffel. His projects Minor and Major were the leaders, for the first he received a prize of 6000 rubles, but they were not destined to be embodied. But still in this story without the French did not do. The company "Batignol" has developed a console-arched version of the construction. Such a bridge will be strikingly easy to look and the construction of this project will require less financial costs.

In 1987, with the participation of Emperor Nicholas II and French President Felix Faure, the foundation was laid, construction began. And five years later, on May 16, 1902, the bridge was solemnly opened, timed to coincide with the bicentennial of St. Petersburg. It was attended by the most famous guests and the royal family.
