Excursion to the Grand Peterhof Palace
Majestic and refined, the Grand Peterhof Palace, occupies a dominant position in the composition of the Peterhof ensemble. The author of the building was the favorite architect of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna - Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The interiors of the palace, created by the architect, amazed with dynamics and fabulous luxury. The walls of the halls were decorated with gilded carvings, mirrors created the impression of endless prospects and visually increased the interior space. The Oak Office of Peter I, preserved from the Petrine era, became a relic placed in the magnificent frame of the new palace. During the Great Patriotic War, the Grand Palace was burned down and blown up. It seemed impossible to lift him from the ruins. But in May 1964 the first renovated halls were opened.
Excursion to the Lower Park of Peterhof is the favorite seaside residence of Peter the Great, which he proudly showed to foreigners and called “My Seaside Paradise”. The park with an area of 102.5 hectares is decorated with about 150 fountains, among which the so beloved children and adults jokes "Oak", "Umbrella", "Christmas", "Water Road" and "Divanchi".
