Yaushev State Musical Theatre began its work in 1935 as a theater of musical activity. Two years later, the theater was renamed the Mordovian State Opera and Ballet Theatre. At this time, the theater successfully holds the premiere of the opera Nesmeyan and Lamzur, and then the drama Litov.
The theater received its final name in 1992. He was named after the great soloist of the theater, People's Artist of Mordovia - I.M. Yaushev. His special performance technique, unique voice and talent, always gathered a full audience.
In 2011, just before the anniversary season, the theater moved into a huge, modern building. The advantages of the new building were obvious: a huge hall, able to accommodate about 714 people, a new, technically equipped and perfect stage.
Today, the attention of the viewer is provided with an updated expanded program. These are operas and operettas, musical and ballet productions, often held various festivals. On the stage of modern musical theater, famous artists often perform. The peculiarity of the theater lies in the productions of the classical, world-famous genre, as well as the works of national composers of the Mordovian Territory.
