Mordovia State National Drama Theatre

Russia, 430000, Saransk, str. Soviet, 27

About the company:

One of the most popular theaters of Saransk is the Mordovian State National Drama Theatre.

The theater was opened in 1989, in the old basement, and the auditorium was designed for only 35 people. The first acting troupe of the theater consisted of artists, graduates of the M.S. Shchepkin Theatre School. But since 2007, the theater has received a new, large building. The building of the theater, in itself, is an ornament and property of the city. Its finish of lilac and dark red brick, mirror glazing and Mordovian ornament, does not leave indifferent even ordinary passers-by.

The main part of the repertoire of the theater consists of plays by Mordovian playwrights (K.G. Abramov, A.I. Pudin), but there are other productions from Russian and world classics. Performances for children are very successful. Such rating performances as "Tyushnya" and "The Last Try", do not cease to gather a full audience.

Today, the theater team annually tours the cities of Mordovia, as well as the surrounding areas. The theater is constantly participating in all festivals.
