Monument to A.S. Pushkin
Description:
In Saransk, there are two monuments to A.S. Pushkin – on the Fountain Descent, which leads to the Pushkin Park of Culture and Recreation and, directly, in the park itself.
Initially, in 1899, a bust of the poet was installed in the park, which stood there until the 30s of the XX century. Now, the monument-bust is located in the Republican Museum of Local Lore. In 1977, on the site of the former monument, near the main alley, a new, bronze monument to the poet was installed.
The second monument is located on the Fountain Descent, leading to the entrance to the park, where the locals love to relax. The monument was created by sculptor N.M. Filatov and installed in 2001.
The monument is very unusual and represents the figure of a poet standing in the opening of the arch, on a high pedestal. It seems that the poet invites you to enter his modest possessions.
Monument to A.S. Pushkin very harmoniously fits into the park of the same name. As before, and now, important city events take place in the park. Previously, these were meetings of schoolchildren who celebrated the end of the school year – the annual act. Today, citizens of different ages gather in the park, especially many families here.
