Plane Monument
Russia, Mordovia, Saransk, the intersection of Soviet and Proletarian streets.
Description:
In Saransk, a large number of monuments, memorials dedicated to the Great Patriotic War were established. In general, the opening of monuments is timed to the Day of the Great Victory. The monument-plane MiG-17, which was inaugurated on May 9, 1975, was no exception.
The monument is located at the fork between the streets of Soviet and Proletarskaya, and is dedicated to the combat exploits of the brave aviators of the Mordovian region, who bravely defended their homeland from the German enemy during the Great Patriotic War.
The MiG-17 is a Soviet fighter jet that has often been used by other countries in military conflicts. The monument is installed on the pedestal in such a way that it seems as if it is going to take off.
Today, the war is reminiscent of mass graves, books, stories of veterans and such monuments that keep the history of combat exploits.
