Monument to the Family in Saransk is installed in the city center, near St. Fedorovsky Cathedral, at the crossroads of Soviet and Democratic streets. It was inaugurated in 2008, declared the Year of the Family in Russia. The author of the monument, made at the Zhukovsky foundry, is sculptor Nikolai Filatov.
This monument is a symbol of unshakable family values - the true foundation of society. The monument is a sculptural composition depicting a happy large family: father, mother “in position” and their three children.
Among the inhabitants of Saransk, this monument is considered to bring good luck to those who want to create a family and have children. Today it is a traditional place for the newlyweds to lay flowers after the wedding ceremony.
