Monument to V.I. Lenin
430000, Russia, Saransk, Republic of Mordovia, str. Soviet
Description:
It is almost impossible to imagine large cities without monuments to Lenin. In Soviet times, in places of mass congestion of people: parks, squares, central streets, monuments were erected to perpetuate the revolutionary leader. Saransk was no exception.
On Soviet Square, in 1960, a monument to the Marxist theorist Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was erected. The monument is a cast bronze figure of the leader, which is erected on a pedestal. The pedestal itself, made of beautiful polished granite dark red. In his hand, Lenin holds a heavily compressed map. The sculptor N.V. Tomsky and architect A.N. Dushkin worked on the project of the monument.
Around the monument is a well-groomed square with beautiful flower beds. Large branched spruces, apparently, were planted simultaneously with the installation of the sculpture.
