Description:

On the left bank of Moksha stands the Orthodox Christmas-Theotokos Sanaksa'r monastery. The temple was built in 1659 in honor of the icon of the Mother of God of Vladimir.

Initially, all the buildings were wooden, but a hundred years later, in 1759, restoration work began. The abbot of the monastery Fedor, petitions for the construction of new, stone buildings that will stand for many centuries. The monastery is very strict: order in everything is clearly visible here, love for one’s neighbor and constant prayers are the main credo of monks.

Throughout the history of its existence, the monastery was repeatedly closed. But since 1991, the monastery was transferred to the Saransk diocese.

The main shrines of the monastery are the two graves of the rest - the abbot of the monastery Fedor Ushakov and his nephew, the famous naval commander - Admiral Ushakov. Tourists from many countries come to these graves in the hope of healing. Many pilgrims told about the miraculous healings that occurred near the holy tombs.

Inside the monastery there are two especially revered icons - Our Lady of Theodorovskaya and Our Lady of Kazan. The territory of the monastery has a sawmill complex and a workshop for the manufacture of candles.
