Saratov Academic Drama Theater named after I. A. Slonov

The theater of drama owes its appearance to a simple merchant F.O. Shekhtel. In 1859, he built a summer stage in his country residence, where the German Dance Club performed. Later, a roof appeared above the stage, and comfortable chairs for the audience. The merchant's theater burned several times. A little later, a modern theater building appeared in its place, which has survived to this day.

At the beginning of the XX century, a local troupe was formed in the theater, which staged productions both on the home stage and toured the cities.
