Park "Lipki" in the city of Saratov

The history of the park begins with the appearance of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the city. It was built in 1824. In the same year, it was decided to set up a square around the monastery. Which, in fact, they did. A simple peasant N. Fedorov and a merchant M. Smirnov together planted more than 1,000 young lindens. After the area was ennobled, the question arose how to name the square. Decided in honor of the cathedral - Alexander Boulevard. But five years later, someone jokingly called the square Lipki and the name remained for centuries.

At the beginning of the XX century, the park was finally completed. Among the already noticeably grown trees made flower beds, installed arbors, benches and a fountain. Along the perimeter, the park was fenced with a carved metal fence, which was specially made to order.
