Monument to the heating battery

Samara, Samara region, Volga Avenue, 8

Description:

The monument to the heating battery in Samara was opened on October 19, 2005, on the wall of the Samara State District Power Plant (GRES). The monument is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the invention of the heating battery.

To find the image of the monument in Samara, a photo contest of cats that bask near the battery was announced. The photo that won the competition became a model for the original monument.

The sculptural composition is represented by a cat that lies on the windowsill above the battery. The author of the monument is the local sculptor N. Kuklev.

According to the original idea, the monument was supposed to consist of many pipes leading to the battery to show the technical complexity and scale of the heating system of the city, but this project was rejected as too technological.
