The locomotive is the only stadium in Saratov that meets federal standards. It is licensed for the right to host football matches of the all-Russian level. Locomotive Stadium has 15,000 seats. The most important sports events of the region are held here.
This stadium is the home arena of the local football club Sokol. In addition to the football field, the stadium has a lot of interesting things. Everyone can train here. Everyone can visit the sports club, ski base, swimming pool, sauna, tennis court and treadmills on the territory of the Lokomotiv stadium.
In 2008, Russian Railways was the owner of the stadium and announced the loss of its maintenance. In 2010, it was bought by the Government of the Saratov region. Reconstruction has since begun. In 2012, the newest artificial heated surface was laid on the football field, and a new large electronic scoreboard was installed.
