Serpukhov

All Saints' Temple

ooh Kaluga, 112, Serpukhov, Moscow region

Description:

The Church of All Saints, located in the All-Svyatsky City Cemetery of Serpukhov, is a stone temple with five chapters, built in the Russian-Byzantine style according to the project of Kazimir Grinevsky.

The tall bell tower of the temple immediately attracts attention. Some sources claim that the bell tower is similar to the unpreserved bell tower of the temple of Cosmas and Damian in Stoleshniki in Moscow.

The temple was built on the site of the former chapel in 1870. Finance for the construction of the bell tower was not enough, so it was built on a separate petition in 1875.

In Soviet times, a warehouse was located in the temple, and an antenna was placed on the upper part of the bell tower. The Church of the Russian Orthodox Church was returned in 1995, then a church was built in honor of John of Kronstadt in the basement.
