Prioksko-Terrasny State Natural Biosphere Reserve

In the Serpukhov district on an area of fifty square kilometers stretched Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve, which received the status of specially protected. The park has a long history, its beginning was laid on June 19, 1945. In 1979, the park was included in the world network of biosphere reserves and received a UNESCO certificate.

On the territory of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve, observations are constantly conducted to prevent the appearance of pollutants in the air. The park has about a thousand species of higher plants, 56 species of mammals and 139 species of birds. It should also be noted the presence of the Central bison nursery, which contains two rare species - bison Bison bonasus L. and American steppe bison Bison bison L.
