The Estate of Vozdvizhenskoe
Avangard, Serpukhov district, Moscow region, Russian Federation
Description:
The Vozdvizhenskoe estate, located a couple of kilometers from Serpukhov, is currently located on the territory of the Avangard Rest House. The history of this estate goes back to the XVII century, and for several centuries several owners changed. It is worth noting that Vozdvizhenskoe at all times consisted of two separate estates, which were united only by a common name.
Once on the territory of the former estate, travelers first of all see large ponds separated by a dam. Of the surviving buildings, it is worth noting the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, which was built in 1787. Now the temple, which gave the name to the whole estate, was destroyed, and its preserved part was turned into a boiler room. The main manor house is in a dilapidated state. A small part has been preserved from it, which still allows us to characterize it as a one-storey structure crowned in the central part with a wooden mezzanine with balconies. On one side of the house adjoined the greenhouse, and on all sides the house was surrounded by a park with ancient trees, which still looks very charming.
