Serpukhov Railway Station

Description:

Serpukhov is a railway station of the Kursk direction of the Moscow Railway. Located in the northeast of the city.

The section of the Southern (now Kursk) railway from Moscow to Serpukhov was opened in November 1866, becoming the first in this direction. The construction of the station building was completed in 1868. The building was designed by architect Fyodor Karlovich Knorre in an eclectic style, at that time it was considered the tallest building in the city and county. At the end of the XIX century, the building suffered due to a violation of the drainage system: the foundation was weakened and the bearing walls were exposed to the masonry of the walls, a fungus appeared, the ceilings of the roof were affected. It is believed that the architectural features of the building have been preserved since construction in almost unchanged form.

Most fast trains passing at the station "Serpukhov", do not stop. In addition to the company train 603M "Turgenev" Moscow - Orel and high-speed electric train-express No. 827/828 Moscow - Kursk - Moscow.
