Shuya / Sightseeing tour
Description:
Duration of 2 hours. Any tour can be changed / shortened / supplemented with all your wishes.
Already in the seventeenth century. Shuya was a major trading center. Yes, in the very middle of central Russia, among impenetrable forests and swamps, this ancient city stood on the navigable Theseus. And he had his intercessor, saved from many troubles - the miraculous icon of the Shuysk-Smolensk Mother of God, written in the year of the terrible plague and disappeared in the XX century without a trace. If weather and technical conditions allow, we will climb one of the highest bell towers in Russia - 106.4 m.
The bell tower of the Resurrection Cathedral is a beautiful majestic structure with its sad history. Near Green Square there is a monument to those who died for their faith. Our contemporary sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov took as a basis the events of 1922, which took place in Shuya, and created an amazing sculptural group uniting clergy and laity. The shopping arcades and the unique monument of the “important” Swiss architect Maricelli once again refer us to the glorious past of the city. This is still the center of Shui, here her heart beats.
Of course, we will talk about the famous Shui merchants who first brought cotton from England. Let us recall the unloved Tsar Vasily Shuisky, after whom the Romanov dynasty ascended the throne.
Let’s take a look at the streets that the famous Russian poet used to walk from home to school – they have changed little over the past 140 years. Naturally, we will talk about Frunze, who had warm relations with Shuya. It was here that the first monument to a fiery revolutionary was erected in Russia. Finally, the Pavlovsk Palace!
There are three things you can’t leave Shui without – soap, balm and cotton. Shui soap was preferred by Catherine II for its amazing properties. The famous alcoholic brand of the Soviet period balm "Old Shuya" from natural healing components. Textile products of the factory "Shuyskoe calico", which celebrated its bicentenary.
*Shuya goes well with a trip to Ivanovo, Paleh or the villages of Vvedenye and Dunilovo (the old Nikola-Shartom monastery). If you wish, you can add Kineshma and / or Vichuga, and then it is a tour for the whole day.

"Shuya city county, but beautiful" - so thought Vladimir Governor, and I agree with him:- So... Meet me at the station! And immediately plunge into the atmosphere of the XIX century. Let’s talk about the Shuysk-Ivanovskaya railway, about how and with whose money the station building was built, and at the same time about Shui vodka. Then we will reach or reach the left bank of the Tesa and walk through the historic center.
