Sloboda Museum of Local History
About the company:
In May 1920, when 26 paintings were sent from the central department of arts of the People's Commissariat of Industry, which became the basis of the collection, an art museum opened in Slobodskoe. In May 1921, local lore was added to the museum.
Now the museum has large collections of samovars, cast iron artistic casting and silver, watches, household utensils, national clothes, cold and firearms of the 17-19 centuries.
Slobodskaya was famous for masters of bell casting. Multipood bells of the famous foundrymen Bakulev and Karkin by sled carts were delivered to different cities and villages of the Vyatka province. With postal triples, Sloboda bells flew to all parts of Russia. Many of them are represented in the museum collection.
For 150 years, all over the world, the wonder of Vyatka – a wooden pocket watch of Bronnikov masters is amazing. In 1837, Semyon Bronnikov for the first time presented at the exhibition his cap watch with a palm stroke, with a chain, in a nut case. They were acquired by the heir to the throne, the future Tsar Alexander II, who came to Vyatka. Three generations of Bronnikovs made amazing watches until the beginning of the 20th century, how many of them came out of the hands of masters is unknown. In addition to the museums of Kirov and Slobodsky, they are kept in the Armory, the Hermitage, in private collections.
The museum contains materials about the life of the Sloboda merchant Xenophon Anfilatov, the founder of the first public bank in Russia: a picturesque portrait of K. A. Anfilatov, bank documents, a certificate of opening signed by Alexander I.
Sloboda local history is one of the richest and most interesting museums of the Kirov region. The museum has more than 30,000 items.
There's a rich collection of paintings here. Her pearl is the Madonna and Child (1870) by Elviro Andriolli. The artist was exiled to Vyatkuz to participate in the Warsaw Uprising of 1863. For ten years he worked a lot and fruitfully, he came to Slobodskaya, where he painted the newly built church of the monastery, performed an iconostasis for it. To this day, only one painting of the artist has survived – Madonna.
The branch of the museum is the wooden church of Michael the Archangel. It is a hundred years older than the famous Kizha, felled in 1610.
The exposition presents icons, ancient books, gold and silver sewing of Sloboda masters of the past. The original decoration of the exposition is a collection of 19 wooden cult sculptures of the 17th and early 19th centuries.
