Stanovoi Ridge (aka Outer Khingan) is a system of mountain ranges located in the south of the Far East. The ridge stretches from Lake Baikal to the Sea of Okhotsk. The total length of the Stanovoy Range is more than seven hundred kilometers, and the maximum height of the mountains is slightly more than two thousand meters. On the slopes of the ridge mainly grows taiga from hardwood trees. At an altitude of more than one thousand meters, cedar tlanik and mountain tundra prevail.
