Smolensk walk through the historical center
Visit the Parks: Blonja, Lopatinsky Garden - with a European bastion of the 17th century
We will see monuments to the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, among which it is especially necessary to note the monument to the heroes of the Smolensk battle.
You will get acquainted with the stunning architectural ensemble of the Cathedral Hill and you will visit the grandiose Assumption Cathedral - a symbol of Smolensk and the place of acquiring one of the most outstanding Orthodox shrines of the Smolensk region and the whole of Russia. It is here that the list of the miraculous icon of the Smolensk Mother of God Odigitry, the wonderful protector and patroness of Smolensk, is kept. The magnificent huge (31 meters high!) Baroque iconostasis of the cathedral fascinates with its beauty.
You will visit the square of memory of heroes - the monument "Grateful Russia to the Heroes of 1812", monuments to M. I. Glinka, A. T. Tvardovsky.
Walk through the Central Park Lopatinsky Garden, where the Bastion of the 17th century is located.
Visit the Blonja Garden, the oldest garden in the city.

Ancient Smolensk
Visit the existing churches of the 12th century - unique buildings preserved and with stunning architecture. These are churches:
Peter and Paul built in 1146.
John the Theologian 1173 and Michael the Archangel (Svir). 1191

Next, we will walk along the eastern section of the wall, the best preserved, there are 9 towers in a row and here is the Abramiiev Monastery. The oldest monastery of the city of the 13th century, in the walls of which stuck the French core, released during the siege of the city by Napoleon. I will talk about the fortress, see how it is built and see the largest tower, which is associated with many legends and mystical stories.

Smolensk neighborhood
We will visit Talashkino (18km from Smolensk) - the estate of Princess Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva. The greatest Russian philanthropist.

In Talashkino gathers the whole color of Russian art. Together with children in the School of Crafts created Vrubel, Korovin, Repin, Levitan, Nesterov, Malyutin. Here they found shelter and were inspired creatively by Serov and Benois, Chaliapin and Diaghilev, Roerich, Stravinsky. It is here, in Talashkino, the composer Arensky composes and dedicates Tenisheva a magnificent romance on the words of P. I. Tchaikovsky (!) “Landysh”. By the way, Tenisheva was also well acquainted with Tchaikovsky. Contemporaries called the creative association of great geniuses in Talashkino Russian Florence.

Inspired by the ideas of the revival of true Russian applied art, Maria Tenisheva erected a stunning temple of the Holy Spirit in Flenovo in 1905. This unique structure was designed by the talented princess herself, in many ways inspired and supported by her close friend, Nicholas Roerich.
On the way back, at your request, we can stop at the Katyn memorial complex.
And we will visit the Nest settlement and the largest burial mound of the 7th-9th centuries. In Gnezdovo there are more than 4,500 mounds of finds from which are stored in the Hermitage and the Moscow Historical Museum.
