How else?

Can there be, without metaphysics, a place of the first knockdown, where the Western partners three times (1609-11, 1812, 1941-43) for the first time seriously got on the bloodthirsty face?

How, without metaphysics, could people here cling to life in spite of the harsh nature and ramparts of aggression? After all, they not only fought, detained the enemy, sacrificing themselves, saved Russia, but also built, revived their land from the ashes.

At the same time, they regularly supplied the Motherland and civilization with bright heroes, amazing creators and beyond geniuses.

Here is a vivid example of Smolensk metaphysics.

The current Assumption Cathedral, by the way, one of the most beautiful churches in Europe, was built almost 100 years (1677-1772). Due to errors, it partially collapsed several times, and bad rumors crawled. But then neither Napoleon’s nor Hitler’s armies could blow it up, although they destroyed the city almost completely and mined its heart – the Assumption Cathedral.

And such amazing stories in Smolensk are incredibly many.

And most importantly, believe me, I can deliver them excitingly.

By foot or by car?

Whatever. We can at least all day walk among the sights or make our way to them by steep secret paths, but we can also drive long stretches by car or even look at the city from the Renault Simbol salon, which is relevant in bad weather.

What time is it?

To come to Smolensk and not to see its central part with an incredible concentration of cultural history of architecture, as well as not to look at the Assumption Cathedral - means to miss something very, very important for a visual understanding of the history of Russia.

Not to mention the rare aesthetic pleasure and powerful energy of these places.

This route lasts about 3 hours on foot.

Then you can visit the embankment on the state-forming Dnieper, 3 unique pre-Mongol churches of the XII century, the wild and picturesque Eastern section of the Smolensk fortress with 9 towers.

That's another 2-3 hours.

But near Smolensk (15 km) not far from each other there is still Gnezdovo with its mounds and settlement over the Dnieper, Hitler’s bunker is the most powerful lair of the fascists, marked by the presence of their Fuehrer, the so-called. The Katyn Memorial is this vile Goebbelsian fake, treacherously accepted by us.

By the way, almost along the way and the place of the fall of the Polish plane 10.04. 2010, which is a glaring example of Smolensk metaphysics, the global significance of which we are not yet fully aware.

Such a trip will also take about 2-3 hours by car with walks.

In the other direction (18 km) unforgettable farm Flenovo. Wonderful place. Just trust and have a lot of fun.

What chips?

But my main feature, after all, is a logical and evident embedding of the history of Smolensk region in the all-Russian, pan-European and even world context.
