Under the shadow of friendly muses (Talashkino, Flenovo)
Description:
18 km from Smolensk is Talashkino - the former Tenishev estate. Prince Vyacheslav Tenishev was one of the most energetic and successful Russian entrepreneurs of the late 19th century. He was called a Russian American. He was well versed in music, played the cello, studied sociology, ethnography and pedagogy. His wife Maria Klavdievna was also a very talented woman - a singer, artist, collector, a high-class specialist in the manufacture of enamel. However, there was another full-fledged hostess of Talashkino - its former owner, Princess Ekaterina Konstantinovna Svyatopolk-Chetvertinskaya. Thanks to the money of the prince and the ebullient activities of the two princesses Talashkino, and the farm Flenovo bought to him, turned into an artistic and educational center of Russia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. An agricultural school for peasant children was opened here, artistic and industrial workshops were created at the school. In Talashkin there were and worked S. Malutin, M. Vrubel, N. Roerich, brothers Benoit and S. Diaghilev, K. Korovin and I. Repin, P. Trubetskoy and many others. I invite you to visit the Tenishevs. You will visit the school of the late 19th century, sit at the desk, try to write with a pen, feel like students of that era. You will see the products of Talashkin workshops, they are exhibited in Teremka, a fabulous house built according to the project of S. Malyutin. From the picturesque hill, crowned with the temple of the Holy Spirit, a beautiful view of the vicinity of Flenov opens, where centuries-old oaks remember the last owners of the estate. Tickets to the museum are paid separately. The tour can be combined with a trip to Zagoria to the homeland of A.T. Tvardovsky or to Novospasskoye to the homeland of M.I. Glinka
