Beautiful day in Smolensk Poozerie
Description:
Do you know where the estate of the famous tireless traveler and explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky is located? How to harvest and ferment tea? What can be said about the bear in its footsteps? You will learn the answers to all these questions in an exciting and rich trip to the Smolensk Poozerie National Park. You are waiting for a trip to the kingdom of bison and acquaintance with Przewalski's horses!
The walk will begin with a visit to the visit center of the national park and watching a film that will introduce you to the amazing edge of the Smolensk region. Then we go to the estate of Nikolai Przhevalsky, where a huge collection of things related to the life and work of the traveler is collected. The most precious exhibit of the museum is Przewalski’s last autograph, and what an unusual one! On the day of his departure on his last trip, Nikolai Mikhailovich wrote on the column of the house in red pencil: “August 5, 1888.” Goodbye, Sloboda!
Then we went to the “Equestrian Courtyard in Przewalski”, where Przewalski’s horses live in a separate enclosure, who are very fond of visitors and are always ready to accept a juicy apple or carrot as a gift.
After that, we move to the arboretum of Smolensk Poozerie in the village of Boroviki, from where the ecological trail “In the kingdom of the brown bear” begins. Passing through it, with the help of experienced employees of the park, you will learn many interesting facts about the habits of the largest land predator, get acquainted with its habitats, diet, learn to read the traces of the beast and look at the world through the eyes of a bear. The length of the trail: 1.7 km.
If your trip takes place in winter, you have every chance to personally get acquainted with bison, the population of which is now being revived by the national park. At the moment, bison are not kept in cages, but live freely in the forest. The need to go out to the employees of the park, who feed them, and therefore the opportunity to meet with the animal, exists only in the cold season.
And then we rush to the estate of Albert Deryabin – a local resident who created a real fairy tale on his six hundredths and populated it with animals, birds, fairy-tale characters – and they are all made of wood. And it is called his fairy tale “Museum of birch bark”, where you can do everything: turn a windmill, make birch bark crafts, and collect an amateur orchestra. In case of impossibility to visit the "Museum of birch bark", we visit one of the similar museums "Pond farm Ilyich", vernissage "Alone with a tree", "Carved fads".
