Well, not exactly completely... For a less complete acquaintance with this wonderful ancient city, you need at least 2-3 days. But this program, nevertheless, allows you to cover the main attractions of the hero city and learn more than with a standard sightseeing tour about its past and present.

Holy Dormition Cathedral Assembly

To the pearl in our tourist crown we drive along the street. B. Sovietskaya and go directly to the Cathedral courtyard.

In addition to one of the most beautiful temples in Europe, which has a deep and metaphysical history, there are still fascinating views from the observation deck and a wonderful ensemble of buildings and a monument to Vladimir Monomakh.

Until 2014, there was no embankment in the ancient heroic Smolensk on the state-forming trade route “from the Varangians to the Greeks!” The money for it and other facilities was allocated only after the fall of a Polish plane on the outskirts of the city on April 10, 2010, when Smolensk attracted the attention of the whole world and it was urgently decided to put it in order.

By the way, about this and related events, I also necessarily tell. From some accidents (unsolved patterns), it becomes especially impressive not by itself.

Three active Domongolian Churches of the twelfth century

From 40 stone temples that existed in Smolensk before the Tatar-Mongol invasion, at the moment there are only three. They were built by one family.

Eastern Part of the Smolensk Fortress

The longest and most picturesque section of the fortress of all preserved. It has 9 towers and 1.5 km long.

Walking here to the stories of one of the longest (1609-11) and heroic sieges of fortresses in our history is a pleasure!
