Smolensk

"Secrets of Red Bohr." Excursion to the western suburb of Smolensk

Description:

Ancient burial mounds, the tragic story of Katyn and Hitler’s bunker.

In 1867, during the laying of a railway in the western suburbs of Smolensk, a treasure was found, which indicated to scientists where, overgrown with grass and forest, a huge ancient city is hidden, whose name is still not disclosed.

Its inhabitants have already sent us through the centuries more than one news – from the oldest inscription found on the territory of Ancient Russia to the silk Chinese dresses of a medieval fashionista.

During the Great Patriotic War in these pine forests settled the headquarters of the German army "Center" and by the forces of thousands after the destroyed prisoners built an underground structure, which is called the bunker of the Fuehrer himself (that it is in fact, there are disputes). Nearby is the place of repentance and reconciliation – Katyn. There is also a cemetery of German soldiers.

And above all these are the depth of the sky, the silent magnificent nature, the smell of pines and the flights of carefree butterflies. This is an excursion where you will experience a lot of strong emotions, after which you will want to reflect on the vicissitudes of history and the fate of people.

What we'll do on the tour:

  • We will look for an ancient pier on the territory of the Gnezdov archaeological complex, the largest monument of the Viking era.
  • We will discuss the versions of the formation of Smolensk and the meaning of the way “from the Varangians to the Greeks”.
  • In recent years, several Scandinavian swords have been found.
  • We will learn how the inhabitants of the ancient Nest buried their dead and how they found the legendary Goroushna.
  • Let’s look at the secrets of Hitler’s bunker.
  • Let's take the abandoned railroad.
  • Let us consider how the assassination of Hitler in Smolensk could change the course of history.
  • We will learn how sometimes after many decades the fates of soldiers and their distant descendants are intertwined in the Smolensk land.
