The Talashkino estate is almost unknown to Russians. But among Russian estates occupies a special place. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries it became the center of Russian culture. The owner of the Talashkino estate was the famous Princess Tenisheva.

The estate is called Smolensk Abramtsevo. The owner of the estate created a museum and theater in it. I opened workshops that were quite famous. They were called "Tenishevsky". Sergei Milyutin, an artist and architect, built a fabulous house that later served as a school. N. Roerich painted the Church of the Holy Spirit. To date, the church needs restoration, the tower for more than 100 years without repair.

Contemporaries call the estate – Russian Athens, and its owner Maria Tenisheva – Pericle of peasants. All because Maria Klavdievna created her "Athens" for ordinary people.
