Museum "Smolensk region during the Great Patriotic War"

Museum "Smolensk region during the Great Patriotic War" is one of the most visited museums in the city. It is interesting for both young people and older people. It is located in the building of the city school "Memory of 1812" in the Park of Heroes' Memory.

The museum contains authentic photographs and documents of the first months of the war, the terrible period of occupation in the Smolensk region, the underground and partisan movement, the liberation of the Smolensk region, the participation of the Smolensk people in the liberation of Eastern Europe.

Here you can see unique samples of small arms of the Red Army and Hitler Germany, orders, medals, personal belongings of the participants in the battles for Smolensk, Yelnya, Vyazma, as well as military uniforms and awards of the French pilots of the legendary Normandy-Neman regiment, combat banners of military units and formations, trophies of defeated Nazi Germany.
