Museum-estate of A. Tvardovsky
Smolensk region., Pochinkovsk district., D. Zagorye
About the company:
Visitors to the museum get acquainted with the situation, learn the unpretentious life of the family in which the great poet was born and grew up. There are no genuine exhibits in the museum, as the poet's family - parents, brothers, sisters - was repressed and deported to the Trans-Urals. Typological things characterizing the period of the 1920-1930s were collected by scientists of the Smolensk Museum-Reserve during expeditions to the villages of the Pochinkovo district surrounding Zagoria. Without them, they would not be able to breathe life into the restored house, they would not be able to imagine that life, far from us (forges and forceps, part of the plow, agricultural labor and household items - plates, self-woven tablecloths and towels, spinning wheel ...). All the furniture in the museum is recreated by the poet’s brother, Ivan Trifonovich Tvardovsky, an excellent cabinetmaker, wood carver.
