Fairy tale museum

Smolensk region, Smolensk, Lenin Street, 15

About the company:

Children's Museum "In the world of fairy tales" was opened in December 1992. Behind the elegantly carved doors of this museum is a world in which adults remember their past childhood, and children begin an exciting game.

Creating a children's museum, the staff understood how difficult it is for a child to comply with the basic museum rule - "do not touch the exhibits with their hands." Museum workers had to take up work: sew toys from scraps, make clay whistles. Now kids can pick up a rag doll with linen fiber hair, toss a ball, try on jewelry; pet a ferret peeking out of a mink; sit on a hemp next to a large box with cakes; look into the onion where a golden egg lies. The exhibits located in the interiors of the museum form scenes from famous folk and Pushkin fairy tales. Coming here for the first time, children are surrounded by old fabulous acquaintances, about whom they have already been told and read.

The best exhibits from the collection of the Smolensk Museum-Reserve are selected for the museum “In the World of Fairy Tales”: a silver horn for feeding a baby by the Moscow master Gavrila Ustinov; a towel embroidered by the masters of the Moscow Passion Monastery; a painted chest of 1839; sleds from the Vologda province, made more than a hundred years ago. No visitor will pass by showcases with folk toys - Dymkovsky, Filimonov, Bogorodsky.
