Glory's grandfather became a vampire in pagan times, when his tribesmen sacrificed him.

The story of how the grandfather of Glory returned the icon of the Mother of God Odigitria Smolensk, stopping the French carriage with the stolen treasure, the filmmakers did not invent, but made up of two stories.

From the beginning of the 17th to the middle of the 20th century in Smolensk there were two miraculous icons of the Mother of God Odigitria - the Primobraz, Monomakhov icon, placed in the early 12th century in the first stone cathedral in the city; and the gate icon of Odigitria Smolenskaya, sent by Tsar Boris Godunov after the construction of the fortress wall, i.e. in the early 17th century.

None of these images were stolen in 1812 - Monomakhov icon was taken out and hidden, and the gate icon went to the Russian army and the whole war inspired soldiers to military exploits.

But repulsed by the Smolensk partisans, the French cart was, it contained a completely different Orthodox shrine - the shroud "Statum in the coffin", embroidered in 1561 in the workshops of Princess Efrosynya Staritskaya and stolen by the French from the Assumption Cathedral in Moscow. As a sign of military valor, the Shroud was placed in the Smolensk Assumption Cathedral on the orders of Alexander the First.

And the further development of events is the interweaving of fantasies, mysteries and historical legends not only in cinema, but also in life. Napoleon’s treasure has not been found and is still being sought. And the version that the grandfather of Glory hid the good in the lake, hints at the Semlivskoye lake under Vyazma - according to one of the most common versions, the treasure of Napoleon is hidden there.

But with one amendment - from the lake near Vyazma, from where the treasure is taken, to Valutina Mountain, where the reconstruction of the Smolensk battle on August 4-5, 1812, is taking place. 165 kilometers.
