In the course of our program, we will follow the historical places related to the history of Smolensk from the 9th century to the present day, visit the Gnezdovsky largest mound complex in Europe (9-11 centuries), touch the historical secrets and amazing legends of the Smolensk land;

We will take a tour in the 12th century to the places of residence of the Smolensk Grand Dukes - churches of the pre-Mongol period. You will touch the walls of the most ancient (12th century) from the preserved temples of Smolensk - Archangel Michael, Peter and Paul, John the Theologian, see the unique remains of colorful frescoes and scratched graffiti inscriptions and other shrines;

We will see the former pier on the way "from the Varangians to the Greeks" historical area of Smyadyn, which entered the chronicle in connection with the tragedy of 1015 - the martyrdom of Prince Gleb, who became one of the first holy martyrs revered by the Orthodox Church;

We will pass along the embankment of the Dnieper, where once passed the famous trade route "from the Varangians to the Greeks", it was from Byzantium that Christianity came to Russia, we will see a monument to Prince Vladimir - the Baptist of Russia, the famous Pyatnitsky Tower and the gateway Church of the Icon of the Mother of God Odigitria;

 

visit the visiting card of Smolensk – the Cathedral of the Assumption, built on the place where Vladimir Monomakh married in the 11th century, the fame of the temple goes far beyond the Smolensk land;

pass through the longest and most interesting of the preserved sections of the Smolensk fortress (towers Orel, Veselukha, Pozdnyakovskaya, Nikolskaya, Zaaltarnaya, Zimbulka, etc.), where you will learn many interesting facts of military history, as well as many beautiful legends and secrets of the great Smolensk fortress (1596-1602);

We will visit the Avrami monastery, located between the Avramievskaya and Zaaltarny towers, founded between 1210 and 1219 by Bishop Ignatius of Smolensk.

visit the Ascension Women’s Monastery, founded in the 16th century on the site of the oldest Vasiliev Church;

Take a fascinating walking tour through the rich history, magnificent monuments, architectural structures, rich green cozy parks historical center of Smolensk (Victory Square, Lopatinsky Garden, Blognier Park, Heroes’ Square, Thunder Tower and much, much more!);

make a trip along the Old Smolensk Road to Valutina Mountain, where the most important battles of two wars took place: the Smolensk 17th century and the First Patriotic 19th century;
