Bestuzhev-Marlinsky Park in Sochi

Russia, Sochi, Adler district, Adler

Description:

The resort park, founded in 1910 in memory of the feat of the Decembrist Bestuzhev, who died protecting Cape Adler from the mountaineers. The park is located in Sochi in the center of Adler and is a cultural holiday destination.

Bestuzhev Alexander Alexandrovich, published under the pseudonym Marlinsky, was transferred to the Caucasus for service and lived here from 1829 to 1837. During the Caucasian Wars he was killed in hand-to-hand combat. The park was originally a small square, laid out at the suggestion of the residents of Adler, but soon it was significantly expanded and landscaped. To the 120th anniversary of the death of Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, a bronze bas-relief was installed in the park, perpetuating the memory of the brave Decembrist and fearless defender of the Russian land.

The park is not large at all, but cozy and loved by tourists and citizens, where they come to walk along green alleys, sit on benches among cypresses and magnolias, take a little rest from the noisy life of the resort city.
