Kardyvac Lake
Russia, Krasnodar Territory, Sochi
Description:
It is the second largest in the Krasnodar region. Located in a closed moraine basin at an altitude of 1838 meters above sea level. The lake is surrounded by five mountains, which is why it is also called the “pond of the Five Peaks”.
The road to the basin, where it is located, is very picturesque and passes through subalpine and alpine meadows in line of sight from the snowy peaks of the Caucasus.
Kardyvach is a flowing lake, from it flows the longest river in Russia, flowing into the Black Sea - Mzymta. The water in the lake is transparent (the bottom can be seen anywhere) and so cold (it warms up only 12 degrees) that there is no fish in it. And it also changes color depending on the time of year - from green in spring to dark blue in autumn.
It is located at a distance of 44 kilometers from Krasnaya Polyana, and you can get there by doing part of the way by car, and part by foot. On the pedestrian part, it is recommended to take 4-5 days. The best time to visit is the end of summer or the beginning of autumn.
