Anchor and Cannon Monument
Description:
The memorial monument "Anchor and Cannon" was erected in honor of the victory won by the Russian army in the Turkish War of 1828-1829.
In 1809, a cast-iron cannon was cast at the Alexander factory, and the anchor raised by divers was cast in 1719. After lying for a long time on the sandy shore, the anchor was taken to Sochi and installed at the base of the memorial next to the cannon. For more than 200 years, the anchor has not been exposed to rust, so it is a symbol of pride not only for Russian soldiers, but also for metallurgists.
There is a monument near the Pushkin Library, next to the Lenin Memorial and the Art Museum.
