Seaside Park

Description:

Seaside Park

One of the most beautiful parks in Sochi is definitely the Seaside Park. It stretches just above the embankment from the temple of Michael the Archangel to the building of the Winter Theater. A hundred years ago, this area was swamped and covered with wild forest. In the 30-ies of the last century, this territory was cleared and began to plant exotic foreigners brought from all over the world. Now the territory of the Seaside Park is very rich in such plants as oleander, Chinese fan palm, trachycarpus, porcupine palm and boutia head, homerops and Washington thready. Especially pleasing to the eye is Araucaria and cryptomeria. Pyramid cypresses are planted around the temple of Michael the Archangel. The Cathedral of Michael the Archangel is the first main temple in Sochi, it was from here that the city itself began to be built historically and was founded in honor of the end of the Caucasian War. Construction was completed in 1890. Behind the temple is the Alexandria Lighthouse of 1880, built from the ruins of the Navaginsk fortress. Its light can be seen more than 30 kilometers away. Going a little further, we get to the glade of Vladimir Vysotsky where his sculpture is installed. Near the concert hall "Festivalny" was built in 1979, where Sochitsy and guests of the city can visit numerous performances of famous artists of Russia and abroad. In 1913, in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov House and the end of the Caucasian War, the composition “Anchor and Cannon” was installed at the beginning of the Sea Lane. A few meters from the composition is the oldest library in Sochi named after Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin founded in 1899 to the centenary of the poet, and in 1912 on the collected funds of a resident of Sochi Dolinsky L.F. and at his request agreed on the project of architect A.Y. Butkin in the Art Nouveau style and built a new building. The monument to Pushkin is located next to the library. Along the Sea Lane is the hotel "Mariinsk Park Hotel", on this place was previously the hotel "Leningrad". Walking through the park you can find many sculptures and compositions: a bronze panther, a nest with storks near the famous Primorskaya hotel, it is located at the beginning of Sokolov Street. Built back in 1936. During the war, 111 hospitals worked in Sochi, one of them for the seriously wounded was Primorskaya. Before the revolution, this place was the estate of artists and poets of the Maykov family. The seaside park is famous for its alleys and benches, from where a stunning view of the sea opens. The park itself is located on a hill, but has many descents to the embankment to the sea itself with beautiful steps and vases with flowers. Without reaching the Winter Theater, one of the three sanatoriums of Russian Railways "Chernomorye" is located in Sochi, it is located on the right side of the street. Ordzhonikidze, and opposite his test restaurant "Baran Ropan", is a combination of mountains and the sea, here you can taste all the Mar horror stories and any lamb dish. The Primorsky Park ends with the Winter Theatre, the architect of which was K.N. Chernopyatov in 1937. Now, in addition to the main concerts and performances in the theater, KVN is held, Jurmala was moved here, Kinotavr was held. On one side of the Winter Theatre there is a bouquet with mineral water, on the other there is a corner of “Phytophantasia”. Everyone will find something new and unique in the Seaside Park.
