Sokol Historical and Local History Museum

Budget institution of culture of the Sokol municipal district "Local history Museum of Sokol district" was founded in 1962.

On February 23, 1993, the public museum was reorganized into the Sokol City Museum of Local History, and on January 1, 2006, the museum was reorganized into the district municipal institution “The Local History Museum of Sokol District”.

Currently, the museum is a research and educational institution, a repository of artistic, historical, literary and other monuments of material and spiritual culture of the Sokol land. The main directions of museum activity are scientific and fund, exposition and exhibition, research, scientific and educational, scientific and methodological work.

The museum hosts regional and interdistrict scientific and local lore conferences and readings, practical seminars on various areas of museum activity.

On the basis of expositions and exhibitions of the museum and its branch, more than 50 excursions of various subjects are held; there are 7 excursion routes - pedestrian and bus.

The institution employs a young creative team, whose specialists have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of regional competitions, participants in targeted programs, receiving funding for the implementation of various socio-cultural museum projects:
- in 2005 - 1st place in the regional competition "Star Lace of the North" in the nomination "New Ideas for the New Century" for the project "Dear Courage and Mercy";
- became participants of the Federal Target Program "Patriotic Education of Citizens of the Russian Federation for 2001-2005" for the implementation of the project of historical and patriotic exposition "Gods in White Coats";
- in 2006 - 1st place in the regional competition "Star Lace of the North" in the nomination "New Ideas for the New Century" for the project "Historical and Patriotic Festival "Soldiers of Russia";
- in 2007 - 1st place and grant of the regional competition of museum projects for municipal museums of the region in the framework of the VI Interregional exhibition of tourist service and hospitality technologies "Gateway of the North". Tourism. Culture. Service" in the nomination "Museum - the visiting card of the city" for the implementation of the project "Kadnikov - the charm of the province";
- in 2010 - a grant in the amount of 150 000 rubles in the competition of state grants of the Vologda region in the field of culture for the implementation of the socio-creative project "In harmony of words and sound". The goal of the project was to create conditions for the socialization of children and adolescents with disabilities and from antisocial families through the introduction to the work of the composer-countryman V.A. Gavrilin on the basis of joint construction on the basis of the museum exhibition dedicated to the composer, which was opened on August 17, 2010 in the Kadnikov Museum. More than 50 excursions and various events were held on it with the participation of pupils of Kadnikov orphanages.

One of the main directions in the activity of the institution is historical, patriotic and local history work. The museum became the center of patriotic education of Sokol residents, the coordinator of activities between various partner organizations. The most striking and significant events in the cultural life of the district in recent years have been the district round table “State and Church”. Ways of interaction" (2009), regional scientific and local lore conference "Near the fronts of the Great Patriotic War" (2010), regional scientific and local lore conference "Kadnikovsky district - the birthplace of five districts" (2010); regional round table "On music and not only" (2010), inter-district conference "Orthodox culture of the northern province" (2011), regional local lore readings "Falcon: from the origins to the present" (2012) and others.

The complex of research and fund events in the framework of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Sokol and the district allowed the museum employees to develop a project “In the weekdays of great construction projects”, the materials collected during the implementation of which formed the basis of the exposition “Communal Apartment”, created in 2012.

Museum staff pay great attention to environmental education activities. For several years, the museum has identified as one of the directions of its activity the improvement of the ecological culture of Sokol residents through acquaintance with the historical and cultural heritage of the district.

Every year, the museum receives a certificate from the Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Sokol district for its active participation in the Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards. In 2010, the Local History Museum of Sokol district was awarded the Diploma of the winner from the organizing committee of the Days of Protection from Environmental Hazard of the Vologda region for his great contribution to the organization and holding of Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards.

Specialists of the museum pay great attention to exposition and exhibition activities, work on the study of the heritage of the noble Zubov family, perpetuating the memory of the composer V. Gavrilin, promoting the work of fellow countrymen A. Pakhomov and N. Baskakov, Sokol poets and writers. The work carried out allows to complete the museum funds, to establish creative ties. Every year, contacts with institutions and cultural figures of the Vologda region are expanding, which greatly contributes to the growth of the prestige of the museum.

BUK SMR "Local History Museum of Sokol district" was awarded:
- Diploma of the Head of Sokol Municipal District for the third place in the district review-competition on the basics of life safety, civil defense and protection from emergency situations (2009),
- Gratitude of the Head of the Sokol municipal district for active participation in the preparation and holding of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (2010);
- commemorative medal "65 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" for active work with veterans, participation in patriotic education of citizens and a great contribution to the preparation and holding of the Victory anniversary (2010).
