Breakfast. Alloy preparation. Here is the most interesting object on the river: the threshold in the bypass channel of the GRES No. 18. The power plant itself is built in the left (perhaps artificial?) sleeve; the building is old, still Finnish. The elevation difference in the dam of the GRES is a record for the Northern Ladoga region - more than 25 m! Interestingly, the Finns broke through a tunnel in the rocks through which water enters the turbines. GRES supplies electricity to Sortavala. Depending on the water level and the preparedness of the group, the instructor decides to pass the threshold or circle it. Passing the Pitkjakoski threshold (long threshold). Lunch is on its way.
The right duct at the very beginning is fenced with a concrete bar, water pours through it throughout the width into large water. The height of the vertical drain is about 4-5 m. Immediately behind the dam, the channel narrows sharply and the river enters the canyon. After 150 m, the climactic site is a series of powerful drains on rock slabs. The plum height is 2-3 m. Then the river turns sharply to the right, the jet hits a high vertical rock lion. Shore. Then turn 90 gr. to the left, further about 1 km of continuous powerful Shiwera. Then the pore alloy. Rampankoski, pore. (12 km) Dinner, overnight in the field.
