City of Military Glory - Old Russa!
Description:
The Russian ancient city of Staraya Russa for its almost thousand-year history suffered a lot from enemy attacks. The city was destroyed and captured by Lithuanian and Polish troops in the 13th century, Polish-Swedish interventionists in the 17th century, but a particularly heavy share fell to Old Russe during the Great Patriotic War. More than 400 thousand soldiers and officers of the North-Western Front laid down their lives for 880 days and nights of fighting on the old Russian land.
Dear friends, we offer you a tour of the city of Staraya Russa with a visit to the Museum of the North-Western Front, the Museum of 123 ARP.
All military feats are covered in the exposition of the only museum in Russia dedicated to the memory of valiant heroes of the North-Western Front.
The Museum of the North-Western Front acquaints its visitors with a unique exposition that tells about the battles in the lands of Staraya Russa, about the years of occupation, about guerrilla exploits and underground urban movement, about all those without whom it would be impossible to overcome this difficult path to our Victory.
The exhibits of the museum exposition reveal the true history of the Great Patriotic War, taking one of the fronts as an example. More than one and a half thousand museum exhibits give an opportunity to analyze the course of hostilities, to understand the tragedy of human destinies caught in the bloody millstones of a cruel war, to show negative phenomena that took place in the history of the war.
The most truthful evidence in the museum exposition is, perhaps, letters from the front of the Red Army fighters. After all, they give a complete description of what is happening directly through the eyes of the participants in the events. Smelling with gunpowder, the lines store the cold breath of war, rough, harsh soldiers’ trenches, the tender hope of soldiers’ hearts to meet their relatives and loved ones, the holy faith in Victory. Then millions of hopes were placed on the post office, with the help of which people tried to find loved ones. Every day thousands of letters of hope were sent from the rear to the front, and to meet them in various cities and towns, villages and villages, hastened letters from the front, where a happy peaceful life and the closest people were left.
One of the memorable exhibits is the bell, the designer of which was master Benning in Lübeck. One of the main memorials are various tools, schemes, maps, documents, honorary awards and of course personal belongings.
All things were brought from those places where the war took place, and from veterans of the Wehrmacht.
Near the museum there is an observation deck, where the T-26 tank is located, which got their river Luvat and two guns.
