Alexander Historical and Archaeological Museum

The museum was opened on October 7, 1964, in 1968 local Komsomol members decided to open another museum of the history of the district Komsomol organization, from these two museums in 1979 a branch of the Stavropol State Museum of Local History named after G.K. Prave was formed.

This was due to the fact that since 1973, for five years, an expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR worked on the territory of the Alexander district, which led excavations of ancient burials, conducted archaeological research. In 1979, on the initiative of the Institute, a historical and archaeological branch was established on the basis of two existing museums. Currently, the museum is a legal entity, has the status of a state institution.

Since the establishment of the museum, archaeological, numismatic, ethnographic, documentary material of cultural and historical value has been accumulated. Now the funds have about 13,000 items of the main fund. The collections of the museum contain unique and valuable primary sources - front letters (triangles) of the period 1941-1945.

The museum fund is rich in objects of crafts of the Alexandrovsky district (pottery production, manufacture of homespun fabric, blacksmithing production).

A unique collection of towels with a unique variety of ornaments that were used in everyday life and in the rituals of the Russian person for many centuries is widely represented in the exposition of the museum.

A collection of irons, various household utensils (rubel, chems, combs, oven utensils, etc.), dishes, church utensils show the device of life of the villagers.

About the development of trade in the village of Alexandrovsky will tell a collection of commercial equipment (bezmen, hand scales, weights, half a foot). The museum has a unique collection of numismatics (bons, coins), which is the most important historical source, revealing the most different aspects of human existence.

Objects of archeology - random finds on the territory of the Alexander region (nucleus, pin, bronze knife, arrowheads, fibula, swimmer), dating from the VIII-VII centuries BC. e. give an idea of the material and spiritual culture of previously living peoples.

The museum contains a unique collection of nodules - bizarrely processed by nature sandstones found in the Alexander district. Painting of nodules is a unique type of artistic creativity of children, opened by Poddubnaya Taisa Ivanovna in 1985. Processing, techniques, methods of painting nodules developed by her on the basis of many years of experience with children. The collection of nodules was repeatedly successfully demonstrated at district, regional exhibitions. Several works were donated to France and Germany.

Museum collections are used in museum exhibitions of regional and regional significance. It offers visitors an exhibition hall, permanent expositions: "Hall of the Great Patriotic War", "Archaeology", "History of the development of the village of Alexandrovsky", walking and field excursions, lectures, conversations on applications.
